Patchwork Makes It Better – Fabric Tour

Hello Dear Friend,

Today is an exciting day! It’s the Hollyhock Lane Fabric Tour and I have got all the goods for you.

If you haven’t noticed, Poppie Cotton has been hitting it out of the park lately with their fabric design collections. Each one beautiful and irresistible. Just like this Hollyhock Lane collection by Sheri McCulley.

Gorgeous! Can you even believe the beauty of these florals?

Personally, I’m in love with the blue-gray colorway. Ooooh!

In an effort to show off this fabric as much as possible in my own home I thought it best to make it into one of my favorite homemade problem-solving projects. Now, please do not get mad at me for keeping this project a secret from this blogspace. I actually came up with the idea years ago and shared a small tidbit over on Instagram but never gave the project it’s proper due.

Let’s fix that today during the Hollyhock Lane Fabric Tour.

Say hello to my, and now your favorite handmade kitchen tool…

the Patchwork Casserole Trivet.

What do you think? Is it a keeper? Let me get into the backstory of this trivet.

You all know I love a practical make. Afterall, one of the best things about being a maker is that we can customize items for our needs. Be a problem solver for whatever challenges come our way. That is exactly how this pattern came into being.

As I was setting the table for dinner one evening I was perplexed by the number of hot pads I needed to hold one casserole dish. There were three hot pads arranged in an odd placement and I did not have enough extras to safely pull my dish out of the oven.

The simple solution would have been to buy more hot pads, duh! However, that did not solve my casserole dish problem. I needed a trivet large enough to hold the dish correctly.

So, I got to work doodling a trivet that would work and decided that it needed to be neat and easily folded for storage. Ah-ha!

Add a little hanger here, a button and strap there… viola! The perfect casserole trivet was born. Not only is the “Patchwork Casserole Trivet” the perfect size for your dish, it also adds beauty to your tablescape because as we all know patchwork makes everything better!

Now this trivet will protect your furnishings, can hang on the wall hook for a touch of decor or fold easily into a drawer.

Saying I love this nifty tool is an understatement. I’m confident you will love your “Patchwork Casserole Trivet” after simply one use.

This trivet has been a staple in my kitchen for years now. Every time I set it out or use it at a potluck I am asked by multiple people where I bought it from. Then with a very proud grin I say, “I made it.” Which is just about the best phrase of all.

If you would like to get the pattern for the Patchwork Casserole Trivet, go to my shop now and get it today! Don’t forget to visit the Poppie Cotton Blog for more on the Hollyhock Lane fabric collection. It’s a must have.

Happy sewing and cooking to you, friend!

love, Jasmine
