A Surprise in my Back Pocket

Hello there Quilty Friend,

Are you ready for some more fun sewing? I am!

In the coming weeks I will be sharing some fun new projects here. You will want to stay up to date with the blog posts and announcements, so if you have not already done so, please subscribe to the email list:

Today, I am bringing you a little pattern that has been tucked away in my back pocket for a while. You’ll recognize it instantly.

This is the Three’s Company Sewing Pattern that I designed for the exclusive C & V Sewing Club hosted by my friend Jennie over at Clover & Violet. For a limited time the pattern was only available to her club members. Now that the exclusive partnership window has closed, I can share this fun pattern with you!

Let me show you what makes the Three’s Company Sewing Pattern so fun.

The pattern includes the option to make three different items. The first is a Large Bin. I use these bins for everything; next to my cutting station and sewing machines catching fabric scraps. It’s been a mess saver. I no longer throw my trimmings and scraps to the wind or the floor because there is a designated space for them in this bin, and gosh it looks so much cuter!

These bins have also been used as gift baskets when I planned a, “First Day of School,” surprise for my girls. They held so much! Now the bins sit on top of my daughter’s dressers holding toys and little treasures. I think they would also make great Easter baskets. What would you use them for?

Next is the pencil holder, which I use to hold my sewing tools. If the items are on the heavier side, I pop in a jar to help support the weight. I love how this holder looks sitting on my tabletops and shelves. It’s the perfect dash of handmade cuteness.

Lastly, is the jar cozy. The same size and shape as the pencil holder but if you sew on a strap it is a completely different item with a specific purpose. Why do you need to make one of these? Let me tell you:

It’s hot here in AZ. Like super-duper-don’t-want-anything-warm-all-summer-hot! Thankfully, with the wonderful invention of iced coffee, I can enjoy my afternoon drink and cool down. One day while drinking my iced coffee out of a trendy glass jar, I noticed condensation rings on all my tabletops which looked messy and every time I took a sip I needed a napkin nearby to wipe the glass down. With my fabric and thread in hand, I thought there must be some solution I can sew up for this daily problem. Then popped the idea of a jar cozy with a hand sleeve. Truly, a Godsend! No more water rings, drippy drinks and slipping hands. I was able to drink my afternoon pick-me-up with no issues…

and as an extra bonus I can use the same jar cozy in the cooler months for my hot cocoa or PSLs (pumpkin spice lattes). Win, WIN!

The jar cozy is so helpful, even the kids enjoy using them when drinking something fancy. I just have to make sure to explain the sleeve is for sliding your hand through, not for holding like a mug handle. That would cause a spill.

There you have it! Three items in two sizes that allow you to make endless creative possibilities with the Three’s Company Pattern. As with every pattern I design, there is a plethora of ways to customize these.

Make a whole cloth panel, piece or even applique some cute flowers. Creative quilting also adds extra flair. If you love to see options, check out the hashtag #threescompanypattern on Instagram where other makers have posted their work. I absolutely love these!
