Hello Dear Quily Friend,

Summer break is upon us! My community college classes have all wrapped up, the soccer-mom-mobile is cleaned out and the last of many class parties has come to an end. Finally! The busy schedule is slowing down.

You know what that means, right? I can plug in my Juki machine for some summer sewing.

The timing could not be better as I have a pile of NEW FABRIC that arrived and is anxious to get started. As a matter of fact there are some little lady bees that have been buzzing around waiting for their quilty debut.

I am thrilled to introduce to you today the Quilting Bees Fabric Collection.

Designed for Camelot Fabrics.

Take a closer look at the little quilters. They each have their own task, personality and hat to match.

What was the inspiration for this collection?

YOU! My quilty friends.

I wanted to showcase the community of the home-stitchers that love to share handmade items and gather in quilting circles with friends. A beautiful community where we can all express our love for sewing.

The colors are an expansion of my Hexie Flowers collection.

Did you notice that the collections work seamlessly together? (Pun intended.) It is no coincidence that the hexie designs double as honeycomb bee hives. The very same hives that the Quilting Bees work to build and sew together.

My imagination went wild as I sat at my dusking drawing the Quilting Bees collection. So many ideas and parallels between the quilting community and busy honey bees.

One of my favorite connections between the two was the idea of beeswax thread conditioner. You can see the bees collecting the pollen, pouring the beeswax and even threading their stinger needles.

Oh it was so much fun to draw. Now it will be even more fun to sew.

The Quilting Bees Collection Lookbook is now available to view at www.camelot.ca

Orders are now open for fabric and quilt shops. The Collection ships to stores in November 2024.
